چکیده
This article addresses the problem of traffic congestion through a learning perspective, highlighting capabilities information, and communication technologies to transform society. Recent physical mathematical analysis reveals that training drivers keep safe distance systematically contributes emergence maintenance interference (so-called phantom jam). presents WaveDriving Course (WDC), simulated environment designed help progress from traditional drive-to-keep-distance (DD) technique new car-following (CF) principle better suited for wave-like traffic, drive-to-keep-inertia (DI). The WDC is based on ordinary knowledge driver (e.g., going series lights) this situation in terms two possible simultaneous behavioral strategies. has opportunity verify it achieve same objective with different consequences. Finally, checks what extent generates transfer patterns analogous case CF. focuses results concerning first module: traffic-light analogy. Forty-two participants followed whole procedure about 30 min. An evaluative CF test was administered before after visioning tutorial practicing simulator. Overall, transference analog (posttest) successful. Results confirm adoption expected DI strategies (speed variability decreased, leader increased, fuel consumption platoon elongation etc.). need improve teaching appropriate discussed.

Intermittent Control Properties of Car Following: I. Driving Simulator Experiments
A rather simple car driving simulator was created based on the available open source engine TORCS and used to analyze the basic features of human behavior in car driving within the car-following and free-driving setups. Four drivers with different skill in driving real cars participated in these experiments. They were instructed to driver a virtual car without overtaking the lead car driven by ...
متن کاملUsing Speech to Reply to SMS Messages While Driving: An In-Car Simulator User Study
Speech recognition affords automobile drivers a hands-free, eyes-free method of replying to Short Message Service (SMS) text messages. Although a voice search approach based on template matching has been shown to be more robust to the challenging acoustic environment of automobiles than using dictation, users may have difficulties verifying whether SMS response templates match their intended me...
متن کاملDriving an autonomous car with eye tracking
This paper describes eyeDriver, a hardware and software setup to drive an autonomous car with eye movement. The movement of the operator’s iris is tracked with an infrared sensitive camera built onto a HED4 interface by SMI. The position of the iris is then propagated by eyeDriver to control the steering wheel of “Spirit of Berlin”, a completely autonomous car developed by the Free University o...
متن کاملLearning eco-driving behaviour in a driving simulator: Contribution of instructional videos and interactive guidance system
The present paper deals with how to design and test an eco-driving training tool in the form of a digital educational game, including a specific guidance system interface to teach eco-driving rules. We tested whether learners could reproduce the eco-driving behaviour and implement the rules once they were autonomous. We also aimed to validate the method as a relevant eco-driving teaching tool t...
